Competition Terms

By entering the Wild Pets competition, applicants and their parent/guardian agree that:

1. Animal welfare comes first. If selected, participants must follow all Wild Pets harvest mouse care and welfare guidance provided during training and throughout the programme.
2. A parent or guardian must actively supervise and support the child in caring for the harvest mice and will hold overall responsibility for ensuring their welfare needs are met.
3. The harvest mice must be checked every day, with appropriate food, fresh water and suitable housing provided in accordance with Wild Pets' care guidance.
4. Any illness, injury, escape, unexpected death or other welfare concern must be reported to the Wild Pets team as soon as possible.
5. A parent/guardian must attend the mandatory training day in March 2027 with the successful participant before mice can be placed in their care.
6. Participants must not release, sell, give away, transfer or make alternative care arrangements for the mice without prior agreement from Wild Pets.
7. Successful applicants and their parent/guardian will be required to sign the Wild Pets Parent/Guardian Participation Agreement and follow the full animal welfare protocols provided before receiving their harvest mice.
8. Wild Pets reserves the right to remove animals from a participant's care if there are concerns about their welfare or if agreed care requirements are not being followed.
