Eva

Inspired by a visit to Derek Gow’s rewilding centre, Eva started breeding harvest mice at home when she was 10 years old. The mice soon took over her bedroom, hallway and garage and she enlisted her school-friend Emily to help. In September 2025, Eva and Emily released 250 mice - with the help of Chris Packham - into a new nature reserve in Devon, where they are flourishing to this day.

Eva came up with the idea for Wild Pets in 2024 and entered it into Blue Peter's Earthshot Jnr competition. She didn’t win but was a runner-up and featured very briefly on Blue Peter. After Chris Packham mentioned Wild Pets on Springwatch, funders came forward offering money, and now it is happening!

Eva has always been passionate about wildlife conservation: she volunteers at a local tree-planting group every winter and has personally planted over 600 trees. She’s also part of a small team caring for rehabilitated native birds like starlings, barn owls, robins and sparrows and she spent summer 2026 volunteering for a turtle rescue project in Greece.

Eva also loves acting and has small roles in the Oscar-winning movie HAMNET and the upcoming EBENEZER.

“Our future is very scary at the moment, so doing something positive, even though it’s only a tiny project with tiny creatures, is making me feel a lot better”
